Missouri Balance of State
Point-in-Time Count
The 2021 SHELTERED PIT Count was scheduled for January 27th, 2021. We did not conduct a count of unsheltered populations in 2021 due to COVID-19.
The Missouri Balance of State (BoS) CoC conducts a Point-in-Time Count throughout its 101 county geographic area each year as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The count helps Missourians monitor trends in the homeless population and increases public awareness of homelessness.
Sheltered Count
The Institute for Community Alliance's (ICA) coordinates the count of persons staying in temporary shelters dedicated for persons experiencing homelessness. Information and resources for the sheltered count can be found on the ICA website.
Unsheltered Count
The Collaborative Applicant for the Mo BoS CoC coordinates the count of persons living in unsheltered situations including the street, cars, parks or other places not meant for human habitation. To get involved with the upcoming unsheltered count, complete our online form or email moboscoc@outlook.com.
Point-in-Time Count Reports
The BoS CoC releases a report of the sheltered and unsheltered count data each year. In 2014, the Governor's Committee To End Homelessness voted to hold one Point-In-Time Count per year instead of two. Since 2014, the count has been conducted during the last week in January.
